Google is close to launching in-game advertising through a project dubbed AdSense for Games. Venture Beat claims to have spoken to sources close to the matter who say that Google "has developed an in-game advertising technology that allows it to insert video ads into games."Read More

War is apparently on the mind of movie execs. Earlier today, the cogs in Epic Games' Xbox 360-exclusive shooter Gears of War were given a greasing, when Variety revealed that Legendary Pictures--the studio behind 300 and The Dark Knight--had signed on to lend financing and production aid to the gaming property's silver-screen adaptation. Rumours were swirling late last week that Australia's strict games classification regime had struck its highest-profile victim for 2008, with Fallout 3 apparently being refused a rating. It seems the rumours were true, with confirmation coming tonight that Bethesda's upcoming postapocalyptic action RPG has indeed been banned for sale in Australia.Read More
